Stone-headed? Clay at worst. But that was hardly the point. "Well this is not a good day for a hike, regardless. I'm going to do a patrol. So head on home, and stay safe. And don't worry, the Power Rangers are here." That... sounded like a Jason thing, right? She knew there was a reason she usually didn't speak as a Ranger.....
this is the newer one, I logged into the wrong one before lol
"Head home, right." She paused for a moment, glancing up to where the ravine the ship was under could be found. "Not happening. I have business here. And really don't need anyone worrying about me. I'm not worried, you shouldn't be either."
Maybe she'd let her friends worry but not some stranger acting like she was Trini. Sure, be a fan, but she wasn't going to let someone tell her how to do something or where to go. She never let anyone really boss her around.
She sighed a bit. "Then I'll stay with you and keep you safe until you are ready to leave." She couldn't, and wouldn't, leave someone in danger. Even if they did irritate her some. She was all but itching to get back to Zordon. And she wished Kim and Jason were there, or Zack. They were all better at talking to strangers than she was. She and Billy tended to hang back more. She was always more confident talking to her friends, or in front of a group, than one on one to a stranger.
Oh jeez. She was never going to get to the ship with someone following her. Although, if she were particularly cruel, she could jump into the ravine and swim down to the cave, let her think Kim had drowned.
That was too cruel though and just as quickly as the thought came, she was mentally berating herself. The old Kim might have played tricks like that, the queen bee cheerleader but now? Really, her life was only kind of her own, she didn't want to cause more panic than Rita or Goldar had.
"You really don't have to bother. I can protect myself. I've been up here hundreds of times already, with my friends and alone."
"But never with Puttis on the loose, I'm sure. It is my duty as a Ranger to keep the people of Angel's Grove safe, as well as any visitors. I will see you to where you are going, and then back again. Then I will contact the other Rangers to make sure the area is secure. I promise you, ma'am, you will be safe."
Jason. Why couldn't this have happened to Jason? Or Kim. Kim might have had fun with this.
"Seriously? You'd be surprised. Not everyone is helpless. I've kicked putty ass before. I know I'm safe and I'm sure you don't want to tag along. I'm going ravine diving, pretty sure watching someone do that doesn't fall in with your responsibilities."
What would she tell Zordon and Alpha if she brought along... whoever this was? Alpha would probably flip her around, he'd had no trouble with Trini and Zack. And he was definitely combat trained, the way he actually demonstrated some moves for them.
"I do this all the time and I've never had to worry about a random attack."
She suppressed a shudder. "You do not have the proper equipment for such a dive," she said, forcing her voice to stay even. Was this another trick of Rita's? Attacking their deepest fears, again? And what did she mean she'd fought puttis before? "I think I should escort you back to town." And call the other Rangers, Quick. Check in with Zordon as soon as she could. Something about this was very much not right.
"Good eye." The snark couldn't be contained. "There's water at the bottom, I swim in it. Plus, I don't live in town so you'd kind of be wasting your time, I'd be coming right back out this way."
Should she run to the ship? She could run. Plus there are the giant holes they made with the zords through the rock. And with the mine closed, no one really tried exploring them. The real question was if this person could keep up.
<Rangers, this is Alpha 5. We need you at the ship, we're detecting more activity from the Goldar dust.>
And there was a muttered 'shit' from the teen following that message.
"Would love to keep chatting but I'm not losing to Trini this time."
....."Wait wait wait... WHAT? That... that is not Alpha... and.. Goldar DUST? Okay, we need to figure this out, and we don't have much time."
She tapped her own communicator. "Alpha. Zordon. Something is going on at my location. I'll update you as soon as I know what, but we may need backup."
~Ay yai yai yai yai! We are aware, we're calling in the other rangers now. Good luck and be careful.~
"Okay, we don't have time for games any more. What is going on and why are you afraid of losing to ... to this... Trini." This was too weird, guys.
Kim narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms. And that sounded nothing like the Alpha she knew and he'd been cheering the rangers on often enough that she'd never mistake his voice.
"First off, not scared. We have a bet and I refuse to lose. Second, the remains of Goldar have been reactivating putties all over Angel Grove since we bitch-slapped Rita into space.
"And this, at no point, was a game. I've been trying to get to my ship. Mostly to train in the Pit but now it seems there's a problem. I suppose you're welcome to tag along. Alpha and Zordon might have a clue but I hope you can swim."
"Remains of Goldar? We fought Goldar yesterday and he retreated. There were no..." That was just gross. "He and Scorpina were more or less whole when they vanished."
She pursed her lips behind the mask. "I agree we need to speak to Alpha and Zordon. But I have a faster way to get us there."
And she really really hoped she wasn't breaking a rule by bringing her. Because Zordon needed to sort this out. She wished she had Billy with them, She was sure he would be able to figure this out.
"Who the hell is Scorpina?" Goldar was definitely not whole when they had been done with that gold mess. She was pretty sure there might still be some gold stuck to Billy's Zord. Something they should probably check before the next time they pulled those out.
She gave a long look to her arm, skeptical. How would that be faster?
"I don't swing that way, just so you know. And my ship, right over that ridge. And under it."
"Never said I was climbing but ugh, fine." What was the worst that could happen? She'd morph, Alpha and Zordon would track her coordinates, and the others would come and back her up. No problem.
She lightly touched the pocket of her pants, double checking that the coins weight could be felt there, not that any of them were even able to ditch the coins now, before heaving a sigh and taking hold of the other girls arms.
I am so afraid to try playing Zordon, lol. So a gap for Kim to respond before I have to.
She touched her communicator and teleported them to the command center. She was going to have to do some fast talking to explain this.
"Zordon, she has some information about Rita, and she got a communication from... it sounded like whoever it was was trying to sound like Alpha without having ever met him. Rita's made one ranger to fight us already, I thought that this might be the same, that maybe we could make a friend and ally of her as well, but... Zordon... she said something about Trini. That's not that common a name, but I can assure you, Trini has no idea who this girl is."
Oh hell, what the hell was happening. Kim's grip tightened for a moment and when they arrived, she shoved herself back and away from the other.
"Yeah, Rita's gone. We slapped her to space, her and her coin, and we stomped Goldar and all her putties. We hid the Zeo crystal and now we're dealing with the fallout- and where the hell even is this?" Her hand slipped into her pocket, tightly gripping her coin, feeling the etchings under her thumb.
True. and now for random it seems right at the time, I can edit anything you want me to.
"I think I may have the answers you are seeking," Zordon said. "Observe the viewing globe."
Back on familiar ground, Trini relaxed and turned to face the globe.
"When Rita summoned her split monster that divided you rangers into separate parts it also tore a rip in the fabric of the universe, causing it to bleed over into another. The two universes have now merged. There are now two Ritas, and two sets of Rangers."
"Does... that mean there are also two Zordons and two Alphas?" Trini asked. That was... either very reassuring or very alarming. She was not yet sure which.
"It does. Rangers, you must work together to stop Rita, both of them, and I will contact the other Zordon so that we can find a way to close the gap, returning both worlds to their rightful state."
"Alright..." Trini said. "But... Zordon, when we were split, the other Rangers looked like us. She may know a Trini, but... I do not know anyone who looks like her. At all. And... are we to keep our identities secret from each other?"
"You are all rangers, so long as they follow the same rules, you may communicate as you need to. As to why you look different now when you did not before, it is because before you were dealing with doubles from the same universe. Different choices in a different universe can cause people to be very different, but their cores are the same. This is indeed a Power Ranger."
(If you want me to edit/change anything I'm cool with that. Also figure even if he's wrong or unsure, he'd say it like it was the truth. Because he's Zordon.)
Okay, the ship had nothing like that. At least, they hadn't discovered it yet, the ship was massive and they'd mostly just seen the zords, the Pit, and the control room.
"Our Rita isn't going to be a problem. There's no way she'll show her face in Angel Grove after the beating we gave her. And she knows we'll drag her to our Zordon to judge her." And they'd take her coin, find someone who was actually worthy and would help protect Earth and the Zeo crystal.
"Also, the name is Kimberly." She pulled her coin from her pocket, the pink glow in the center dimmed compared to when she was at the ship. "And damn right I'm a Power Ranger. I got the crap kicked out of me in the Pit often enough while training to morph that I earned this."
Trini did a double take and pulled off her helmet to stare at the other girl. "Kimberly? You're... you're kim in the other world? You're the pink Ranger?" What.... kind of world was that? This was one of her two best friends...? She couldn't help herself, she had to ask.
She looked nothing like Trini, or rather the Trini she knew. It was surreal. And it made her wonder what she looked like or Jason. Just everyone. And what their Angel Grove was like.
"What about him? He's kind of a nerd, he got the blue coin so he's the blue ranger. He's in detention with me and Jase." She hadn't gotten the chance to really get to know him yet, even with their campfire heart-to-heart. And they'd been so busy since beating Rita and Goldar that they hadn't had another chance.
May I link this on plurk to show my friend who plays Billy?
Billy. In detention. The thought was almost too much for her to accept. Jason, in detention? That was almost as hard. Oh, it happened... once in a very rare while, and usually due to a Power Ranger emergency that led to a missed class, or something Bulk and Skull had done. But it was still hard to accept that she said it so... so casually. As if it was a common occurrence.
"Detention? Billy and Jason? Zordon was right, this is some weird sort of other reality."
Still, she was sure they could learn something from these counterparts of theirs. And they needed to work together.
She hated to ask. But... she had to. "Tommy?" Was he on their side, in this odd other world, or was he still an enemy? Of all people, Kim would be the one to ask. Her, or Jason.
If only she knew all the details, details Kim wasn't planning on handing out just because they're the same people. Sort of. It was still kind of funny though. Billy was a good kid, not someone who would have intersected her social circle before she had screwed up. Then again, the coins had seemed meant for them, she probably would have met him anyway.
"It's not that weird but yeah, we're all in detention now. We're there every Saturday until we graduate."
Which sucked. At least it gave her an excuse to quit cheerleading now though.
"Who's Tommy?" Wait. "The teacher on Saturday was calling for a Tommy Oliver? Never met him though, must have been skipping. Great start. Really."
Trini turned to Zordon. "Will Tommy's powers hold? If he's the only one of us who doesn't match, who doesn't have another Ranger of his colour, maybe he's what we need."
"An interesting theory, Trini. I do not know if his powers will hold."
Trini nodded. "We'll have to hope so." She didn't doubt that Tommy would want to help. Not for a second. The others would just have to do as much as they could first, so he didn't use up what power he had left fighting puttis. She turned to Kim. "Zordon will contact your Zordon," that felt so weird to say. "We should talk to the rest of your team." And her own... but she had no clue how to even start that conversation. Kim, Pink Ranger meet Kim Pink Ranger? Maybe Billy would have some ideas. She knew Alpha would be calling him as soon as they left. If not sooner.
"Your Tommy is probably going to be on his own. We have no other power coins. The only other one was Rita's and she stubbornly believed she was still worthy when we slapped her into space. The only way to get that one is if it falls back to Earth and even then, no idea where the hell it will land."
Alright so, she could kind of handle her team. And her Zordon and Alpha. She didn't particularly want to, this one seemed to have gotten the better attitude between universes.
"Back to the mine then. I wasn't kidding when I said our ship is underground."
"Rita held our Tommy's Power Coin at first too. She made a evil Ranger to fight against us. But we were able to break the spell. We can find where she hid the coin, somehow." Probably. Maybe. Could... could it restore Tommy's powers?
No. They had a Tommy on her world, she said as much. They just hadn't met him yet. She wouldn't take from anyone the chance to be a Power Ranger. They'd find another way to help Tommy. She was sure of it.
"We can teleport, right?" Trini asked, a little hopefully.
New user name? Cool.

She was so not commenting on the implied rejection, since she hadn't been flirting, and they hardly had time for that sort of discussion anyway.
